Meeting discusses mechanisms to enhance cooperation in implementing the GCC’s shared economic visions
H.E. Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy and Tourism, led the UAE delegation participating in the seventh meeting of the Permanent Preparatory Committee at the Ministerial Level of the GCC Economic and Development Affairs Authority, held in Kuwait on 9 October 2025. The meeting discussed a range of projects and initiatives aimed at enhancing collaboration and integration among GCC states.
H.E. Bin Touq highlighted the UAE’s commitment to supporting the GCC’s joint efforts across various sectors, particularly in the economic and investment domains. These areas form the cornerstone of the GCC’s growth and prosperity, strengthening its position on the global economic landscape, enhancing its ability to attract high-quality investments, and driving sustainable and inclusive development for its peoples.
H.E. said: “The UAE remains committed to continuing constructive work, strengthening collaboration, and developing practical insights and solutions that contribute to implementing all joint initiatives and projects. These efforts contribute to realizing the GCC’s objectives of sustainable growth and economic integration, embodying our shared aspiration to build a diversified, innovation-driven, and fully integrated regional economy.”
H.E. added: “The GCC countries have made significant strides in their economic diversification journey, serving as successful and pioneering models in this field. They have also developed advanced infrastructure and technological ecosystems, leveraging their distinctive geographical position, to create broader prospects and new opportunities for cooperation among GCC countries. These efforts will further support the competitive edge of our economies and advance them in line with the global developments.” H.E. emphasised that the meeting offered a valuable opportunity to strengthen economic integration among GCC countries and advance efforts toward the bloc’s economic integration by adopting more unified economic policies.
The Committee discussed mechanisms for enhancing economic cooperation among GCC countries to implement shared economic visions. Additionally, it reviewed key meeting outcomes of the Authority’s specialised and technical teams and held discussion sessions, brainstorming workshops, and panels focused on shaping the future of the GCC economy and ensuring better integration.
The meeting also reviewed the bloc’s key developmental achievements, particularly in the areas of the Customs Union and the GCC Common Market, as well as the steps taken to further economic integration under the projects and initiatives of the GCC Economic Unity. Discussions highlighted the efforts of governance and documentation of Gulf economic and developmental cooperation. Furthermore, Committee members reviewed the economic performance of GCC countries and their growth indicators across various economic and investment sectors. They also considered the Authority’s efforts to develop and adopt advanced tools and methods based on latest technology and scientific approaches to measure the progress of economic integration among the GCC states.
