AgentBlack and Decker (Overseas) GmBH
Product DescriptionDeWalt Mitre Saw
Year of Manufacturing2019 - 2022
Country of OriginTaiwan
Number of Units17
Defect DescriptionThe affected products are professional-use mitre saws. Through DeWALT’s internal quality procedures, a small number of broken rear guards were identified in finished units. An investigation was carried out, including analysis of the broken parts, which established that there had been processing issues causing plastic embrittlement at the rear guard part supplier. DeWALT has identified that, in rare cases, parts of the rear guard assembly could break or detach and make contact with the saw blade. If this occurs during operation, fragments of the rear guard assembly may be thrown from a rotating blade and could contact the operator or a bystander, posing a potential injury hazard. The probability of injury to users has been assessed as “Low”.
