UAE and Canada discuss enhancing collaboration in aviation, transport, and logistics with focus on expanding air connectivity

Meeting explores exchange of expertise and best practices in safety standards, environmental protection, and advanced technology to enhance operational efficiency

H.E. Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy and Tourism, held a meeting with the Honourable Steven MacKinnon, Canadian Minister of Transport, on the sidelines of the Investopia Global - Alberta, which brought together business leaders, investors, innovators, officials, decision-makers and entrepreneurs from both countries. During the meeting, H.E. underlined the continued growth of the UAE-Canada relations across economic, investment and tourism sectors, under the guidance and support of both leaderships.

H.E. Bin Touq said: “Our aim is to strengthen bilateral relations and support the economic growth and prosperity of both nations. This will be achieved through expanded and diversified collaboration in key sectors, including new economy industries, tourism, aviation, transport, logistics, and entrepreneurship. Such efforts are key to advancing the developmental agendas of both countries while enhancing the flexibility and competitiveness of our business environments.”

The UAE and Canadian sides also explored mechanisms to boost joint air transport, including increasing flights operated by their national carriers. This initiative will support broader economic growth, enhance tourism flows, and open new avenues for investment and expansion in this vital sector.

During the meeting, H.E. Bin Touq reviewed several strategic plans for aviation, transport, and logistics projects in the UAE, in line with the nation’s broader sustainability goals. These initiatives focus on expanding economic partnerships with key regional and global markets, positioning the UAE as a regional hub for sustainable aviation fuel, adopting advanced transport technologies, and promoting green transport initiatives.

Both sides also explored ways to exchange expertise and best practices in safety, environmental protection, and the implementation of cutting-edge technologies to enhance operational performance. Innovative transport policies were discussed to support sustainable development and elevate the quality of air travel services, further strengthening both countries’ roles as leading aviation and air transport destinations.

The Canadian side was invited to leverage promising opportunities in the UAE’s aviation sector and related vital projects, along with the country’s strategic location and world-class infrastructure that support the sector’s highly efficient operations.
