Ministry of Economy and Tourism hosts roundtable to encourage German companies to invest in the UAE’s new economy, manufacturing, entrepreneurship, and tourism sectors

Session highlights UAE’s commitment to strengthening economic cooperation with Germany in key sectors

The Ministry of Economy and Tourism hosted a roundtable at Expo City Dubai, convening Emirati and German business leaders, as well as representatives from several German companies. The session was chaired by H.E. Abdullah Ahmed Al Saleh, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Economy and Tourism, and Dr. Christoph Ploß, Germany’s Federal Government Coordinator for Maritime Economy and Tourism.

The session aimed to deepen dialogue and exchange perspectives on the next phase of economic and technological transformation, while encouraging German companies to invest and expand in the UAE market across high-growth sectors such as the new economy, advanced manufacturing, smart mobility, the digital economy, advanced industries, technology, and sustainable energy. It also sought to empower the Emirati and German business communities to identify promising investment opportunities in both markets and to enhance the exchange of knowledge and expertise, supporting both countries’ visions for transitioning toward sustainable economic models.

The Undersecretary affirmed that the UAE–Germany partnership stands as a model of advanced strategic relations and an exceptional economic collaboration. He highlighted the UAE’s commitment to strengthening economic cooperation with Germany across advanced and high-growth sectors in line with the “We the UAE 2031” vision, which aspires to position the country as a global hub for the new economy in the coming decade.

H.E. stated: “This roundtable is a valuable platform for strengthening cooperation with our German partners across both the public and private sectors, particularly as our economic relations continue to flourish and expand in areas of mutual interest. It also facilitates the exploration of opportunities for economic integration, investment, and the exchange of expertise in advanced and sustainable sectors such as the digital economy, technology, and entrepreneurship - contributing to sustainable economic development in both countries.”

The discussions delved into how innovation, smart governance, and digital technologies are redefining industrial sectors, transforming urban mobility systems, and fostering greater interconnectivity across the economy. Participants also examined the potential of artificial intelligence and data-driven solutions, noting that the strategic strengths of both nations position them to leverage advanced manufacturing, integrated infrastructure, and smart-city concepts to support sustainable growth and enhance economic competitiveness.

The roundtable emphasized the importance of driving tangible economic projects in both markets to enhance bilateral investment flows and strengthen cooperation between the public and private sectors. These efforts aim to further solidify the long-term strategic economic partnership between the UAE and Germany.
