Platform tracks average prices of 33 basic commodities across 13 retail outlets, including rice, flour, oils, eggs, milk, dairy products, legumes, chicken, bread, and sugar

 

 

The Ministry of Economy and Tourism continues to monitor the prices of essential goods across various retail outlets through the ‘Essential Goods Prices Platform,’ a digital platform launched by the Ministry to enhance market oversight and automate price monitoring. The initiative forms part of its ongoing efforts to enhance transparency, strengthen market oversight, regulate prices in local markets, and provide reliable, up-to-date data to monitor price changes and analyze price trends.

The Ministry publishes the monthly prices table based on data from the platform, providing average prices for a range of essential food and other key commodities and tracking the price ranges recorded across the retail outlets covered by the platform.

Key average commodity prices recorded on the platform in August

The data for August 2026 covered 33 basic commodities in different sizes across 13 retail outlets, including rice, flour, oils, eggs, milk, dairy products, legumes, chicken, bread, sugar, and other essential goods.

The average price of a 1 kg pack of basmati rice was AED 16.62, while the average price of a 5 kg pack was AED 45.53. The average price of first- and second-grade flour was AED 7.76 for a 1 kg pack and AED 12.26 for a 2 kg pack.

For dairy products, the average price of fresh full-fat milk was AED 3.91 for a 0.5-liter pack and AED 9.46 for a 1-liter pack, while the average price of a 170-gram pack of yogurt was AED 1.97.

The average price of canola oil was AED 15.86 for a 1-liter pack and AED 23.97 for a 1.5-liter pack. The average price of corn oil was AED 13.85 for a 0.75-liter pack and AED 24.92 for a 1.5-liter pack. Meanwhile, the average price of sunflower oil was AED 19.31 for a 1-liter pack and AED 35.70 for a 3-liter pack.

The average price of a tray of 30 brown eggs was AED 23.05, while the average price of a tray of 30 white eggs was AED 22.97.

The average price of fresh whole chicken was AED 18.94 for an 800-gram pack and AED 22.97 for a 1 kg pack. The average price of pure white sugar was AED 8.75 for a 1 kg pack and AED 10.94 for a 2 kg pack.

Lowest prices recorded for selected commodities at retail outlets

Among the lowest prices recorded at retail outlets, a 170-gram pack of yogurt was priced at AED 1.42, while the lowest recorded price for 0.5 liters of fresh full-fat milk was AED 3.22. The lowest recorded price for 0.5 kg of white chickpeas (dry and canned) was AED 3.24.

The lowest recorded price for 0.6 kg of sliced white bread was AED 4.47, while 450 grams of fava beans (dry and canned) recorded a lowest price of AED 4.93.
