H.E. Abdulla bin Touq visits Hotpack headquarters in Dubai to review its local and international expansion plans
Visit forms part of the Ministry’s Economic Engagement initiative in support of sustainability and innovation-based business models in the private sector
H.E. Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy and Tourism, visited the headquarters of Hotpack, one of the leading companies in the food packaging products and sustainable packaging solutions, in Jebel Ali, Dubai. The visit reflects the Ministry’s support for business models based on sustainability, innovation, the circular economy, and green growth in the UAE. It forms part of a series of visits conducted by H.E. under the Ministry’s Economic Engagement initiative, to review developments across leading economic and investment projects and establishments in the UAE and assess the impact of economic legislation on the business community.
H.E. Bin Touq highlighted that the UAE continues to establish a competitive and sustainable business environment based on global best practices, thanks to the directives of its wise leadership. It also remains committed to enhancing the growth of productive sectors and supporting the country’s position as a global economic hub. H.E. highlighted that developing sustainable industries and expanding economic partnerships are two key cornerstones for enhancing the competitiveness of national products and unlocking new export markets, in line with the objectives of the “We the UAE 2031” vision.
Furthermore, H.E. added: “The UAE Government is committed to strengthening engagement with the private sector, supporting leading economic and investment projects, and further enabling their development, growth, and prosperity. This contributes to increasing local production, supporting export capabilities, diversifying the national economy and enhancing its sustainability, while reinforcing the UAE’s position as a global destination for investment and business.”
Mohammed Alhassan, Co-Founder and Co-CEO of GII Group, said: “GII Group’s investment in Hotpack represents a strategic expansion in the UAE’s manufacturing sector. Since its establishment 12 years ago, the Group has deployed more than USD 5 billion in foreign direct investment into the UAE, spanning sectors including education, logistics real estate, food, healthcare, and others.”
Pankaj Gupta, Co-Founder and CEO of GII Group, said: “This investment directly supports Operation 300bn and the country’s industrial development and self-reliance strategy, of which the Group is proud to be an investment partner. At GII Group, along with Hotpack, we express our sincere gratitude for H.E. the Minister’s visit today, as we work together to develop national industries that proudly carry the ‘Made in the Emirates’ mark.”
In turn, Abdul Jebbar P.B., Founder and Group Managing director of Hotpack, said: “We are honoured by the visit of His Excellency Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, which reflects the UAE leadership’s continued support for the industrial sector. Our partnership with GII represents an important step in Hotpack’s growth journey. This will enable us to scale up our operations, invest further in sustainable packaging innovations, and expand our global presence, in line with the UAE’s policies, and the vision of its wise leadership.”
“Over the past three decades, we have built a business deeply rooted in the UAE, and we’re proud of that, while steadily expanding our global footprint. We remain committed to contributing to the nation’s industrial vision and economic diversification goals to foster innovation-led growth and empower homegrown enterprises to compete globally. We are well-positioned to accelerate our expansion plans, enhance our sustainable packaging capabilities, and enter new markets, while continuing to contribute to the UAE's economic and industrial ambitions," he added.
During the visit, H.E. Bin Touq was briefed on Hotpack’s expansion plans across both local and international markets, as well as the company’s advanced production lines, modern manufacturing methods, and logistics distribution chains. His Excellency emphasized the importance of supporting national industries built on innovation and circular economy principles to strengthen their presence and competitiveness in regional and global markets.
His Excellency also inspected the company’s green manufacturing ecosystem, an innovative circular economy model. It features advanced production stages and modern manufacturing lines built on sophisticated technologies that enhance operational efficiency and product quality, while adhering to environmental sustainability standards across all stages of production.
His Excellency was apprised of the work mechanisms within the manufacturing and packaging facilities, which rely on precise operating systems that balance production efficiency with reduced environmental impact. This reflects the group’s commitment to adopting sustainable industrial practices. Hotpack’s production capacity currently stands at 375,000 metric tons, covering plastic, paper, and aluminium products.
Furthermore, His Excellency reviewed the logistics processes related to production and distribution, which include mechanisms for managing product flow from manufacturing lines to regional and international distribution networks, ensuring smooth supply chains and effective access to target markets. This strengthens the company’s ability to develop flexible industrial solutions that keep pace with global market shifts.
Hotpack was founded in Dubai in 1995 and currently operates 16 factories, 29 branches, and 50 sales centres across several countries, including the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, and India. The company serves more than 25,000 customers in over 100 countries worldwide, supported by an extensive logistics fleet of more than 400 trucks. Hotpack employs over 3,500 staff members from 30 nationalities.
