UAE and Russia explore strengthening collaboration in new economy, investment, energy, food security, logistics, and tourism sectors

 

Discussions held during 12th meeting of the UAE-Russia Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic and Technical Cooperation

 

The 12th meeting of the UAE–Russia Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic and Technical Cooperation was held, and co-chaired by H.E. Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy and Tourism, and H.E. Anton Alikhanov, Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation. The meeting was attended by representatives of the relevant public and private sector entities from both countries.

During the meeting, His Excellency Bin Touq highlighted that the UAE and Russia share strategic relations based on mutual understanding and common economic interests.

H.E. said: “The latest session of the Commission marks a new step toward building fruitful partnerships between the business communities and private sectors of both countries. It also aims to enhance cooperation and provide greater support to entrepreneurs from the UAE and Russia, contributing to the growth and sustainability of our economies. We are prioritizing new-economy sectors and other key fields to ensure mutual benefit for both nations.”

H.E. noted that the Commission’s role in exploring the promising opportunities offered by both countries’ business environments. H.E. also reviewed the enablers offered by the UAE’s business environment, which include flexible economic laws, full foreign ownership of companies, as well as an advanced business climate supporting over 2,000 economic activities.

The meeting discussed action plans and mechanisms for collaboration across various areas, including investment, energy, industry and innovation, food security and agriculture, education, transport and logistics, tourism, sports and culture, environmental protection, healthcare and several other themes.

Both sides agreed to continue joint efforts to develop new mechanisms for economic collaboration in priority sectors and provide support to entrepreneurs, further advancing their strategic partnership.
