H.E. Abdulla Bin Touq visits Kyrgyzstan Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai
Kyrgyzstan is one of the UAE’s prominent economic partners in the Central Asian region
H.E. Abdulla Bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy, visited the Kyrgyzstan pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai, which is located in the Opportunity district of the exhibition. The pavilion showcases the cultural, civilizational, and historical heritage of Kyrgyzstan and highlights the country’s remarkable developments in various development, economic, and cultural fields.
During the visit, the Minister of Economy said that Expo 2020 Dubai continues to serve as a platform for bringing the world together under one umbrella in the UAE to inspire, build partnerships, and create the future. It sets a unique example in enabling international cooperation, openness, and bringing together cultures and people. The global event helps develop new and sustainable channels of cooperation between the countries of the world, both between government and private sectors to build a new phase of partnership in the areas of economy, trade, investment, tourism, innovation, technology, and future sectors.
The Kyrgyz pavilion at Expo 2020 offers visitors a rich experience, enabling them to learn about the new visions adopted by the Kyrgyz Republic to build the future. The pavilion aptly highlights the Central Asian nation’s growing economic potential, its approach towards leveraging innovation, knowledge, and information technology as driving forces for development, and its efforts to develop and promote vital sectors such as agriculture, tourism, and energy.
The Minister of Economy was briefed on the development and economic growth aspects of Kyrgyzstan, the partnership opportunities it offers to the world through Expo 2020 Dubai, its unique tourism features and the diverse nature as showcased in the pavilion. H.E. Bin Touq was also briefed on various developing tourism features of Kyrgyzstan such as health tourism, adventure tourism, road trips, and sports. Besides, during his visit to the pavilion, H.E. was acquainted with the history, traditions, and heritage of the Kyrgyz people, including the ‘Yurt’ tent, which symbolizes Kyrgyzstan's heritage and the nomadic life of its people.
Kyrgyzstan is one of the UAE’s prominent economic partners in the Central Asian region. In 2019, the two countries launched the first Joint Economic Committee, which developed a program for economic, trade, investment, and technical cooperation in 13 vital sectors, including trade, investment, financial services, manufacturing, small and medium-sized enterprises, innovation, information technology, agriculture, livestock, transport, civil aviation, tourism, education, and renewable energy.
The two countries continue their efforts to add new dimensions to their economic partnership during the next phase. In last December, on the occasion of the Kyrgyz National Day, the Kyrgyzstan pavilion at Expo 2020 hosted the Kyrgyzstan-UAE Business Forum. The session led to the consolidation of more partnerships between the two countries' business communities and witnessed the signing of MoUs and contracts worth AED 11.7 billion spanning several activities, particularly food and agricultural products trade.
